Basic Katakana & Hiragana Chart

Friday, February 8, 2008

Hi guys!!!.. I'm back and I'm about to introduce you guys to my new segment. It's LEARNING JAPANESE TOOLS segment. In Japanese i call it Nihongo wo Narau no Dougu desu. This segment objective is to provide you guys with the necessary tools to study Japanese language. This time i will introduce you guys with basic hiragana and katakana chart. Hiragana and katakana both contains 46 basic character. These characters are the basic characters for any Japanese kids before they can proceed to learn Kanji. Kana characters are different from English characters as they are characters that have sound such as "ka", "ta", "ra" and so on, you know what i mean?..i mean you can spell the character in English with two alphabet but actually they stand as a single characters in Japanese. Learning hiragana and katakana is not hard and it will only take a few weeks to master it depending on how much effort you put on it. Well, enough talk, now..presenting my basic hiragana and katakana chart......... :p

Well, this is my basic kana chart. On the left hand side is the hiragana and on the right hand side is the katakana. From the middle to the top are the basic character of both kana and from the middle to the bottom is the new character formed from the basic character. After mastering these characters you guys can proceed with studying the combination of two characters to form a new sound. For hiragana not all characters can be combined together though, only characters that ends with vocal "i" such as "ki", "ni" and "chi" can be combined with only these characters which is "ya", "yu", and "yo" to form sound such as "kya", "kyu" and "kyo". To know details about these combination characters click here for hiragana and here for katakana and look at the bottom side.

Here's a software to practice Kana.
